Floyd Norris at NYT poses an interesting question: has any penny stock become a big company? There's a couple of ideas in the comments. Two of them, not surprisingly, are from Eddy at CrossingWallStreet. I say not surprising, becuase he has an encyclopedic knowledge of stocks -- and I would never want to find myself head up in a match of "name that ticker symbol" against him.
I did once own a penny stock that briefly made the jump to the American Stock Exchange. Sure, it's the Amex. Kind of like the CBA to the NBA. But still. The company -- a flim flammy fuel cell maker back in the day -- ended up going out of business.
Any other ideas?
