I guess this quote about a DFJ guy saying he'd 'blow his brains out' if he saw another business model for a social net has been getting some attention for awhile.
I was thinking, it would make for some really funny performance art to build a really cheap Facebook knockoff -- you know, some profiles, fav movies, music and a wall, etc. -- and then pitch it really hard to VCs and get bloggers to write about it.
You could chronicle that and put it in a museum.
Been there, done that.
Surprisingly, it did get funding - though it was by an art institution.
