Several months ago, after my 5-year old Powerbook finally died, I started working on a Windows machine for the first time in a long while. The move wasn't out of any particular love for Windows, but simply because I wanted to start working on a desktop computer again (though I still own a laptop for travel), and fully adequate desktop PCs can be had so cheaply. That being said, I almost never interact with Windows. Once I open up my browser in the morning, that's usually it. Except for when the browser crashes, I hardly ever see the desktop.
What I realized, though, is not just that I live inside my browser, but that I've become frightened of the desktop. I've been hunting around for some personal finance software, and I simply dread the thought of actually having to load a program right onto Windows and deal with various installation headaches.
As far as I can tell, there's no web-based version of Quicken (correct me if I'm wrong), but I'd love it if there were. I've seen a few web alternatives, but none look particularly robust. Does anyone have any suggestions?
