The big news in New York poker is that a well-known poker club was robbed and busted this week. Apparently, some armed robbers came in and cleaned the place out of $50,000, and when the police showed up, the club's owners was arrested, which in my opinion is bunk. That being said, it's obvious that running a poker club entails a high degree of risk, so think about that next time you feel like the rake at an underground club is ridiculous. Of course, politicians love to pat themselves on back after this type of thing. One city councilwoman said she was glad that this "den of inequity" has been shut down. Of course, she probably meant to say iniquity, but "den of inequity" is a funny phrase in its own right, particularly when you're talking about a poker club. Seeing as a typical poker game will have a couple big winners and several losers, a "den of inequity" is an unintentionally apt phrase.
I have always preferred the "din of inequity" to a "den of iniquity," myself. Sorta reminds me of all the chatter in the blogosphere on private equity taxation ...
