State of The State: Michigan

One of my favorite new blogs DetroitWonk (I'm biased since it's the city of my birth) liveblogs Governor Jennifer Granholm's State of The State address.  Why do tell you about it?  Because Michigan is one of those states, in which broader economic trends are playing out clearly.  In reality, reading some of the various State of The State addresses will probably tell you more than the upcoming State of The Union.  Not surprisingly much of the speech focuses on jobs and manufacturing, and what the state is doing to combat job loss and the ailing manufacutring industyr.  Well worth a read.
