WSAV's Scott Sillay shows how today's gas prices are affecting the price of your pizza and the person who delivers it.
The plight of the pizza delivery man grows every time gas prices spike.
"Of course,” says Gary Evans, a Domino’s Pizza manager. “It’s more expensive to get pizza to the customer now."
James Gleason delivers pizzas for Domino’s on Wilmington Island and he says he is feeling the pinch.
"I think it costs me ten dollars a week extra now, in addition to my personal use. I make around ten dollars a week less with the new gas prices. It kinda makes me mad, but there’s nothing I can do about it. I can’t decrease the amount that I drive."
As of today, Domino’s delivery charges were raised to $1.25 per order. But that's not hurting business at all.
But don't worry about the CPI. I believe that pizza falls safely within the so-called "volatile food and energy components".
